GAO Examines AI Opportunities and Oversight Gaps in Small Business Contracting
GAO reviewed potential uses and risks of artificial intelligence across federal small business contracting and research programs. While AI offers opportunities for market research and fraud detection, GAO noted that SBA paused all AI use cases in March 2025 and has failed to consistently publish required annual inventories of its AI tools.
